This years Paul McLean Memorial competition was played in challenging conditions to say the least, with the players facing the tailend of Tropical Storm Katia! The early starters had the best of the weather for a change with the wind only blowing up to 45mph. The poor afternoon starters had driving rain and winds up to 65mph! The competition was won by Geoff Garratt who actually led the competition out at 7:30am, which by the afternoon standards were benign conditions. Geoff managed an incredible 41 points (how many? 41points).
The winner of the ladies trophy was Rena Gilmour. Rena braved the afternoon weather but then had to jet off to Seville for some sunshine to recover!
Despite the brutal weather and playing conditions an excellent 87 men and 15 lady golfers turned up to support Jimmy & Joan McLean.
Jimmy & Joan would like to thank all those who took part. They would also like to thank the sponsors who also supported the day:
A & B Autoparts
Brookes - Whitehaven
Ian Hunter - Galemire Vetinary Surgery
Meyers & Bowman
Whitehaven Accident Repair Centre & Pondfield Garage Ltd
Thank You
Jimmy & Joan
